This Sunday and Special Messages

Special Announcement; Wednesday, September 9th: Broc will be doing double duty rehearsing with string quartet at 6PM, then with Choir at 7:30-8:45. Choir will meet in the Chapel at 7:30 to practice with Broc in John’s absence. No need to arrive before then. Please be sure to practice “My Hope is in the Lord” at home before Wednesday. Tracks are online.

September 13th AM - Choir sings “Eat This Bread and Drink this Wine” at 10:20 service.

September 13th PM: Broc will be presenting a Mozart Concerto w/ String Quartet at 5PM. Choir singing “My Hope is in the Lord” at Evensong. Please be robed and ready in choir room at 4:15.

URGENT REMINDER: There are several choir members who are very allergic to fragrances. Please, don’t wear any scented products to rehearsals or services (hair sprays, colognes, etc.). We need every single singer healthy and comfortable.

September Birthdays: Kathy Pierce, the 7th; Carolyn Ward, the 21st; J.R. Shaw, the 26th; Anna Erixon, the 29th.

REMINDERS:

Sunday mornings: Please don’t go through the sanctuary and atrium. Take the long hallway around, cut through the office and through the children’s hall to line up at front of Chapel. Also, keep the double doors from the music library into the practice room closed to help maintain the air conditioning during summer weather.

Update: John has requested that we keep our line tighter when processing and recessing (no more than 3 feet apart). Remember, don’t start singing until you step inside the Chapel. Also, when recessing, the lead persons should stay in sync with lead on the other side coming down the steps and line up closer to John and the clergy.

September 13th: Choir sings at 10:20 service, then returns for Evensong at 4:15.

Coming UP:

September 19th - Christmas Choir Kickoff. 9am-2pm. Lunch will be provided. Please be thinking about who you know that might be interested in joining us.

Prayer Requests

  • We need to pray fervently for John’s mother, Sue. Her esophageal problems have persisted to the point where she is unable to tolerate food and has become very weak as a result. John is in Florida with her now. Pray for Sue, John and their family.

  • Our friend and guest organ/pianist, Jan Fulford’s daughter, Aubrey was in a car accident and needs our prayers for a complete recovery.

  • Tom Ginn is having carpal tunnel surgery on September 3rd. He will need another surgery later for the second wrist. Please pray for successful treatment and relief from the pain and numbness.

  • Karen Brown’s daughter Denise has recently received a kidney transplant and very much need prayers that it will be functional.

  • Please keep Jim Parr in your prayers for comfort, strength and healing. He is very much missed.

  • Mary Kay has requested prayers for her chronic cough issues and strained vocal chords.

  • Carolyn Pryor has requested prayers for her son Benji, as doctor’s have proscribed a new treatment for his colitis.

  • Please continue praying for Marcia and Carolyn Pryor to regain their strength and be completely healed of cancer. Praise that they were both in choir Wednesday.

  • Chris requested prayers for her friend Ray who has throat cancer, as well as his family as they go through this time.

  • The Shaws have requested travel mercies for their trip to VA and PA.

  • Angel will be having cataract surgery. Pray that the doctors can manage the recovery with drugs that won’t cause a reaction.

  • Please pray for healing for Rick Jones (Barbara’s husband) as he recovers from his accident.

  • Please keep Jeane Kennedy in your prayers. She would love to have visitors as she will be at the Jamestown Rehab center (2001 Hampton Place), Room 411 indefinitely. We were blessed by her gift of crosses for members of our choir family.

  • Continued prayers for Loretta’s family as Cody is recovering from his stroke. Pray that Cody continues to regain more mobility.

  • Please continue praying for James regarding the spot on his pituitary and other health concerns.

  • Frances has requested prayers for her daughter Bonnie. Her son Brandon has been aggressive towards her and others due to his autism. Please pray for their family to find resources to help.

  • Please keep Melissa Szczepanek’s husband Kevin in your prayers that he will find the right job opportunity soon.

  • Continue prayers for John with his throat issues.
