October 15 Updates

Important Announcement: Please note that our times have changed slightly for Wednesday rehearsals. Practice for Sunday anthems will be 6:15-6:45 PM; Christmas music rehearsal will be 6:45-7:45 PM; Ensemble rehearsal will be 7:45-8 PM.

In case you’ve been away recently, reminder that your new section leaders are Gail Shanks, sopranos, Tom Ginn, tenors and Tom Blackwood, basses. Please reach out to them if you have any requests, concerns or needs.

We have two birthdays this month. Chris Scott’s is October 12th, Mary Leverett’s is October 24th.

1) Sunday, October 19th, the Ensemble will be singing “Nearer to Jesus” at both services.

2) Please note that Monday sectional rehearsals have been updated since our last week’s notes:

-Monday, October 20th, Sopranos and Altos will practice 6:15-7:15

-Monday, October 27th, Tenors and Bases will practice 6:15-7:15

-Remaining Mondays, November 3rd and 10th all (SATB) participating in Christmas programs will meet from 6:15-7:15.

3) October 26th, the full choir will sing “Glory to the Lamb”.

4) November 9th is Connection Sunday. The Chancel Choir will have a table in the Atrium. Please check with Ann to sign up for times to meet, greet and encourage potential singers to join us.

5) December 10th - Dress rehearsal for Christmas “Lessons in Carols”

6) December 11th and 12th - “Lessons in Carols”. Please put these dates on your calendars and let your friends know.

Reminder: Brian has set up a special access code for us to enter the building during off hours when we have special events, practices, Evensong, etc. The door closest to the offices on the West side has a keypad. Our new code is 1119*. NOTE: this special codes only works on Sunday mornings and for special choir events. Please don’t share with anyone beyond choir members.

Please keep the following members of our choir family in your prayers:

  • Bonnie’s recent surgery went well. Please pray for relief from her pain and a full recovery.

  • Please pray for the Rankin family.

  • Gail reported that Bill is improving. Please continue to pray for both of them as he heals.

  • Angel needs prayers as she continues to suffer from illness.

  • Jim Parr has requested prayers for his surgery.

  • Please pray that we find someone that is a great fit to become our accompanist and allow John to focus on directing and playing the organ for services. If you know of anyone who might be interested, please let John know.

  • Please pray for Shirley as she gains strength following her successful shoulder surgery.

  • JR requests prayers for his brother Frank, who is experiencing multiple health challenges.

  • John’s Botox injections have been postponed, again. Please pray that the procedure can be scheduled soon and be covered by insurance.

  • Tom Ginn will be having Hip replacement surgery February 5th. Please pray for relief from his pain in the meantime

  • Please pray for Ritchie and her family. Her brother Bud and his family especially need our prayers for strength and comfort as he continues to battle cancer.

  • James has requested prayers that his children, John and Misha will find suitable jobs. His wife, Cindy’s knee surgery is in two weeks.
